10035 / whiplash in the horta hall
What would it take to transform the infamous Horta Hall in the BOZAR Brussels into a veritable heart of the institution, as a vibrant multifunctional hall that houses all culture? Taking hint from art-nouveau ‘marquises’, we propose a set of retractable canopies. Creating intimate spaces behind existing columns when active, appearing as curtain drapes with storage behind when retracted. A simple device that allows the true urban nature of the hall to flourish while ameliorating climatic conditions through its integrated hydraulic tubes.
